MOREHOUSE COLLEGE
The goal of the Greater Orlando Upward Bound Math and Science program at Morehouse is to assist students in recognizing and developing potential in science and mathematics to encourage pursuing postsecondary degrees and ultimately careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The five week Summer Experience is delivered both in a virtual and traditional classroom format. Students are registered into courses based on their current transcripts, future course work and expressed interests. The Summer Experience program offers the following core courses during the Summer Experience; College Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Technical Writing, Latin, Purpose and Career Planning, and SAT prep.
The research component allows students to be grouped with a faculty research advisor in one of the following disciplines; Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering or Environmental Science. Participants are required to informally present their research after three weeks and formally at the program closing to demonstrate progress.
Students also participate in enrichment opportunities such as visiting the Center for Civil & Human Rights, participating in College Chats , attending college visits, and participating in Greater Orlando Math-Science Gives Back volunteer opportunities.
